Tesco Ireland Withdraws Brown Wholegrain Rice Due to Weevils
Tesco Ireland has informed the Food Safety Authority of Ireland that it has withdrawn two batches of its Tesco Wholefoods brand of Wholegrain Brown Rice in 1 kg packs. This is due to the presence in some of the packs of live weevils (insects). The implicated batches carry the best before dates of 15/09/2011 and 16/09/2011. No other batches are implicated.
The UK FSA has issued a food alert to confirm that Tesco has withdrawn two batches of its own-brand wholegrain brown rice because they might be contaminated with insects. Tesco has withdrawn the affected rice from sale and will be issuing shelf notices in its stores. These notices will tell customers to contact the Customer Service Desk to find out why the product has been withdrawn and what they can do if they have already bought the affected product. The product being withdrawn is: Tesco wholegrain brown rice, 1kg Best before: 15 September 2011 and 16 September 2011
No other Tesco products are known to be affected.
