Unilever withdraws Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Low Fat Ice Cream 500ml due to a labelling issue
The UK FSA has issued an allergy alert to confirm that certain batches of Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Low Fat Ice Cream 500ml distributed to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland have been inadvertently packed in Dutch packaging with the result that the ingredients list does not appear in English. This makes these products a potential health risk for people who are sensitive to egg, milk, soya or gluten.
The alert states that "Unilever is withdrawing the affected batches from sale and is displaying notices in all stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the withdrawal and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. They are also publishing notices in a number of newspapers in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The product has not been distributed to other parts of the UK".
No other Unilever or Ben and Jerry’s products are known to be affected.
