Peanut butter recall reaches the UK

The UK Food Standards Agency has issued a food alert because Lärabar has recalled certain batch and date codes of their own brand Peanut Butter Cookie flavoured snack bar (51g) and Peanut Butter Cookie flavoured mini snack bar (21g), due to the possible presence of Salmonella Typhimurium.

Lärabar has withdrawn the affected products from sale and will be issuing a product recall notice in the national press as of today, Wednesday 21 January 2009. These notices will alert consumers to the recall and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the affected products. Follow the link for more details.

Updated on 24th January as follows:

"The Agency has been informed that, on a precautionary basis, Lärabar has extended the recall of Lärabar Peanut Butter Cookie flavour snack bars to include all size, batch and date codes. The affected products have been withdrawn from sale and a product recall notice will be issued by the company in the national press on Saturday 24 January 2009. These notices will alert consumers to the recall and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the affected products.

The products recalled are:

  • Lärabar Peanut Butter Cookie flavour snack bars
  • All sizes, batch and best before date codes
