Cesina Sausage Company, an Aliquippa, Penn. establishment, is recalling approximately 10 pounds of pork sausage product due to misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The product label identifies this product as ready-to-eat (RTE), when in fact this product is not-ready-to-eat (NRTE).

Hudson Valley Foods, Inc. of Highland, NY has advised Bhu Foods of San Diego, CA that organic sunflower seeds sold to the company have been recalled. As a result of a recall of sunflower seeds from Hudson Valley Foods, Inc.,Bhu Foods’ supplier of organic sunflower seeds, advised Bhu Foods that ingredients sold to the company have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Aldi is recalling specific batches of Skellig Bay Yellowfin Tuna Steaks (follow link) due to the detection of high levels of histamine. There is one known report of illness linked with one of the affected batches. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in Aldi stores.

Nature Of Danger:

Scombrotoxic (histamine) poisoning is a chemical intoxication, in which symptoms typically develop rapidly (from 10 minutes to two hours) after ingestion of food containing toxic histamine levels. The range of symptoms experienced is quite wide, but may include an oral burning or tingling sensation, skin rash and localised inflammation, hypotension, headaches and flushing. In some cases vomiting and diarrhoea may develop and elderly or sick individuals may require hospital treatment. The symptoms usually resolve themselves within 24 hours.

Fresh Express is announcing a precautionary recall of a limited number of cases of Organic Marketside Spring Mix. The item subject to the recall is 5 oz. Organic Marketside Spring Mix marketed in a clear container with production code G089B19 and best-if-used-by date of APR 14, 2017 located on the front label, and UPC code 6 8113132897 5 located on the bottom of the container. The recalled salads were distributed only to Walmart stores located in the Southeastern region of the United States. The recall was necessitated when Fresh Express was notified that extraneous animal matter (bat) was allegedly found in a single container of the salad.

Mibo Fresh Food, a Fort Worth, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 3,434 pounds of ready-to-eat salad products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. The product contains pieces of honey glazed walnut, which has an ingredient of wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label. This product was also packed on shared equipment with other tree nuts, peanuts, soy and milk.
