The U.S FDA has announced the recall of organic sesame seeds due to concern the product may be contaminated with salmonella for more information follow the link.

Morrisons recall chicken product

The UK Foods Standards Agency issued the following alert yesterday.

"Morrisons has recalled its own-brand Chicken Fillets with Creamy Bacon and Mushroom Sauce (380g) because the product contains wheat flour that is not mentioned in the allergy information, although it is listed as an ingredient."

Sainsbury's recall hollandaise sauce

The UK Food Standards Agency report that Sainsbury’s is recalling, on a precautionary basis, a batch of its own brand Hollandaise sauce. The recall follows a single report of glass being found in a jar. Fore more information follow the link.

FSA reports prosecution

Eurofreeze (Ireland) Ltd was prosecuted by FSANI for offences under licensed meat coldstore hygiene regulations and breaches of health marking requirements as laid down by European and national law. The company has been fined £5000 on each of 13 breaches of the regulations, making a total fine of £65,000. For more details follow the link.

Norovirus rampant in the UK

Norovirus cases have risen significantly this winter in the UK with hospital wards being shut, visitors being limited and schools on alert for symptoms too. Doctors estimate that 100,000 people a week are contracting norovirus otherwise known as the winter vomiting bug. The virus can be transferred by infected people, contaminated food or water or coming into contact with contaminated surfaces.
