Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd recalls six pre-packed bagged salad products containing watercress due to a possible link to a national outbreak of E.coli O157
As a purely precautionary measure, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd is recalling all date codes of six pre-packed bagged salad products containing watercress due to a possible link to a national outbreak of E.coli O157. Such incidents in the past in the US, where a link to spinach or leafy salads has actually been demonstrated, have been linked to water contamination, or soil contamination. Farm assurance standards have protocols in place to manage these risks.
