ASDA recalls all batch codes of its ‘Smart Price’ Corned Beef following detection of veterinary medicine residue in some of the products tested. ASDA has recalled all batch codes of the product mentioned below due to detection of low levels of the veterinary medicine phenylbutazone, known as bute, in some batches of the product.

Action taken by the company
ASDA previously withdrew the above product on 8 March 2013 due to the detection of equine DNA in the product. Following further sampling and testing, low levels of phenylbutazone have been found in some of the samples. ASDA has therefore instigated a recall of the above product from consumers and the company will be issuing recall notices in the national press. These notices will alert customers to the recall and advise them of what actions to take if they have purchased the product. No other ASDA products are known to be affected.
