Argyll Smokery recalls a single batch of smoked prawns due to a processing error resulting in inadequate controlling factors to prevent growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Examination of a sample of the product has identified that the salt level within the product is below the necessary level to ensure that Clostridium botulinum cannot grow and produce botulinum toxin in the product. As a precautionary measure, Argyll Smokery has recalled the affected batch.

Action taken by the company:  Argyll Smokery has recalled the affected batch. This product was only on sale in Scotland. Point-of-sale notices are being produced for establishments supplied with this batch. No other Argyll Smokery products are known to be affected.
