Rajbhog Foods Inc Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Cashews In "Vegetable Biryani"
Rajbhog Foods of Flushing, NY is recalling its 10 ounces packages of frozen to eat “Vegetable Biryani: because it does contain undeclared cashews. People who have allergies to tree nuts (cashews) run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled Vegetable Biryani was distributed nationwide in retail stores.
The product comes in a 10oz, frozen food carton, marked with an inner box liner U9299. This item was sold between the dates of February 21, 2012 and April 6, 2012. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the cashew-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of cashews in the ingredient list. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a breakdown in procedure on the review process of the finalized boxes. New product run has already begun, and current recipes coincide with the ingredient list present on the packaging. There are no cashews within the revised recipe.
