Rolled oats product recalled over undeclared allergen
New South Wales organic foods importer, Pacific Organics, has recalled a batch of imported rolled oats sold in health food stores and bakeries in the State of New South Wales.
The batch is being recalled because it contains proteins similar to gluten and may not claim to be gluten free.
The proteins can cause a reaction for people with coeliac disease which is similar to that caused by gluten. The recalled product is ‘GF Harvest Old Fashioned Rolled Oats’ (Gluten Free), sold in 1.16kg yellow and brown resealable plastic packaging, with a ‘best before’ date AUG 2012. Consumers with coeliac disease have been advised not to consume the product. Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.
