CERTAIN ALKANATER BRAND TAHINA MAY CONTAIN SALMONELLA BACTERIA
The public warning issued on January 31, 2012 has been amended to correct the lot codes on the affected product.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Phoenicia Group are warning the public not to consume the Alkanater brand Tahina described below because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.
Only the following product is affected by this alert: Alkanater brand Tahina, sold in 454 g containers bearing UPC 6 92551 00002 0 and codes "Prod: 5/7/2011" and "Exp: 5/7/2013". Consumers are advised that other 454 g containers of Alkanater brand Tahina with an additional code "Lot: TT3N-281011", inkjetted on the container, are not affected by this recall. This product has been distributed nationally. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
