Agency allergy advice on Marks and Spencer prawns

The FSA has been informed that Marks and Spencer Garlic and Coriander Butterfly Prawns have been sold without the presence of milk being declared in the allergy information panel. The presence of milk is included in the ingredients list, as required under the allergen labelling rules, but Marks and Spencer has stopped the production of this product and will re-label it with the correct allergy advisory information.

Marks and Spencer will also inform allergy support organisations so they can contact their members about the issue. People with a milk allergy need to avoid this product. The Agency strongly advises people with a food allergy not to rely solely on the information provided in the allergy information panel and to always check the ingredients list when buying food.
