UNDECLARED WHEAT IN CERTAIN READY TO EAT BIG BOB’S BRAND DELI MEATS
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Big Bob’s Sausage & Deli are warning people with allergies to wheat not to consume the ready to eat Big Bob’s brand deli meats described below. The affected products contain wheat which is not declared on the label. All lots of the following Big Bob’s brand meat products are affected by this alert:
•Polish Sausage
•Ham Sausage
•Smokies
•Bratwurst
These products are sold in 4.54 kg (10 lb) boxes with no UPC and no lot code. In addition, they may have been sold in various weights at deli counters. Consumers with allergies to wheat are advised to check with their retailer to determine if they have the affected products.
These products have been distributed in Saskatchewan. There have been no reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of these products. Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat.
