Spring Hill Pure Spring Water recalled due to the presence of E. coli

The UK Food Standards Agency has issued a food alert to confirm that Spring Hill Pure Spring Water with batch code 15 August 2011 has been recalled due to the presence of E.coli. Although E. coli may be non-pathogenic, (not harmful) it is an indicator of faecal contamination and may present a possible risk to health and is in breach of the Natural Mineral Water, Spring Water and Bottled Drinking Water Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007. As a precautionary measure, the distributor, Lynas Food Service Ltd, Coleraine, Northern Ireland is recalling the batch of Spring Hill Pure Spring Water due to the presence of E. coli (1 cfu/250 ml). Retailers and caterers have been requested to remove the implicated batch from sale and display a point-of-sale notice informing customers of the recall. No action is required by official agencies.
