Baroody Imports, Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Baroody Dried Apricots

The US FDA has issued an allergy alert to confirm that BAROODY IMPORTS, INC., 1500 B MAIN AVE., CLIFTON, NJ 07011 is recalling BAROODY DRIED APRICOTS because it may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. The recalled BAROODY DRIED APRICOTS, 14.1 OZ / 400 GR. were sold in NJ and NY. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors revealed the presence of undeclared sulfites in BAROODY DRIED APRICOTS in packages which did not declare sulfites on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem
