Chocolate products contain undeclared egg protein

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Chocolaterie de l'Île d'Orléans are warning people with allergies to egg protein not to a range of decorated chocolate figurines because these products contain egg protein that is not declared on the label.

The affected decorated chocolate figurines contain coloured eyes, hearts and flowers that contain undeclared egg protein. These decorated figurines are packaged in clear plastic bags with two labels. One label bears the name Chocolaterie de l'Île d'Orléans and the second label lists type of chocolate, ingredient list and Nutrition Facts table. These labels do not bear a lot code or UPC. These decorated figurines are made of milk, dark or white chocolate.

These chocolate products were sold in Québec. There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these decorated chocolate figurines. Consumption of these decorated figurines cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to egg protein. Follow the link for product details.
