Peanut butter fall out continues
I have been busy delivering food safety training the last couple of days and in my absence there have been a further THIRTY product recall notices as a result of the actions taken because of the identification of Salmonella contamination in peanut butter.
This is having a truly widespread cost in human and financial terms. Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) has announced that it is now is voluntarily recalling all peanuts and peanut products processed in its Blakely, Georgia facility since Jan. 1, 2007. Two pet products have also been recalled as they have been linked to the recall too.
The latest case count is 529 in 43 states with the most recently reported illness beginning on January 16, 2009.
