Can Salmonella bind to produce?

The mechanism for how Salmonella bacteria can attach to salad leaves was discussed yesterday at the 21st International ICFMH Symposium 'Food Micro 2008' conference in Aberdeen. This has caused a lot of comment including in the Telegraph, and the FSA Blog.
