SuperValu Salted Peanuts 200g recalled due to the presence of aflatoxins

As a precautionary measure, SuperValu is recalling this batch of product due to a higher than permitted level of aflatoxin. No other products are affected by this recall. SuperValu has issued in-store notices requesting customers who have bought this product to return it to a Supervalu store. No action is required by official agencies.

Argyll Smokery recalls a single batch of smoked prawns due to a processing error resulting in inadequate controlling factors to prevent growth of Clostridium botulinum

Argyll Smokery recalls a single batch of smoked prawns due to a processing error resulting in inadequate controlling factors to prevent growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Examination of a sample of the product has identified that the salt level within the product is below the necessary level to ensure that Clostridium botulinum cannot grow and produce botulinum toxin in the product. As a precautionary measure, Argyll Smokery has recalled the affected batch.

Product identification:  Argyll Smokery Smoked Prawns, 125g Use By 02/01/13 Batch Code, 5P1212 

Action taken by the company:  Argyll Smokery has recalled the affected batch. This product was only on sale in Scotland. Point-of-sale notices are being produced for establishments supplied with this batch. No other Argyll Smokery products are known to be affected.

Haig's Delicacies Announces Voluntary Recall of Tzatziki, Falafel, Spanakopita and Tyropita due to Undeclared Allergens

Haig's Delicacies of Hayward, CA is recalling all Tzatziki, Falafel, Spanakopita and Tyropita because the product labels do not include Allergy Statements reflecting the use of the following food allergens:

Tzatziki is being recalled because of the undeclared use of a food allergen (milk).

Falafel is being recalled because of the undeclared use of a food allergen (wheat).

Spanakopita and Tyropita are being recalled because of the undeclared use of food allergens (wheat, milk and eggs).

People who have allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, milk and eggs run the risk of life threatening allergic reaction, anaphylaxis, that required immediate medical care if they consume the product.

S&M INTERNATIONAL INC. Recalls Yang Sheng Cooked Salted Duck Eggs Because of Possible Health Risk

S&M International Inc, Bayonne, NJ is recalling Yang Sheng cooked salted duck eggs, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause serious life-threating illness or death.

The recalled eggs were distributed between August to October 2012 to stores and markets located in New York City area, PA, VA, MI. This product is vacuum packed in plastic with six eggs per 12.69oz.package. UPC code 6949682803568. The lot code is YS12-02C, printed on the product boxes. The recall was initiated after it was discovered through NYSDAM Sampling which revealed the product was not processed in a manner to prevent growth of Clostridium botulinum. S&M International Inc reached the decision to recall this product after a thorough investigation. The company has taken a number of corrective steps to address the issue.

Risk:  Due to a packaging error, the above product contains Prawn Curry, therefore the presence of wheat (gluten), milk, mustard and shellfish (prawns) have not been declared on the label. Their presence poses a public health risk to those allergic to and/or intolerant of these allergens.

Action taken by the company:  The company has recalled the product from sale and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their at-risk members of the issue. Customer notices will be displayed in stores to alert consumers to the reasons for the recall and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product. Udi’s Healthy Foods, LLC Issues Allergy Alert for Undeclared Almonds in 12-ounce "Udi’s Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola"

Udi’s Healthy Foods, LLC of Denver, Colorado, is voluntarily recalling its 12-ounce bags of "Udi’s Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola" with UPC 6-98997-80615-8 and "Best By 041913 12265 1" because they may contain undeclared almonds. People who are allergic to almonds run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Recalled "Udi’s Gluten Free Au Naturel Granola" products were distributed through retail stores in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington beginning on or about September 24, 2012. The product comes in a 12-ounce, clear plastic bag marked with BEST BY 041913 12265 1 on back of the bag, underneath the Nutrition Facts panel. No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.

This product has been distributed nationally. This recall is the result of an ongoing food safety investigation being conducted at Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd. This investigation was initiated as a result of recent product testing associated with an outbreak investigation. There may be recalls of additional products as the investigation at this facility continues.

Virginia Firm Recalls Mortadella Due To Misbranding and Undeclared Nut Allergen

Fiorucci Foods, Inc., a South Chesterfield, Va. establishment, is recalling approximately 2,650 pounds of mortadella because the product contains pistachio nuts, a known allergen, that are not declared on the label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced.

Salinas Firm Conducts Precautionary Recall On A Select Salad Product Due To Possible Health Risk

Taylor Farms Retail, Inc. of Salinas is initiating a precautionary recall of 110 cases of Taylor Farms Hearts of Romaine 10 oz. bags with an expiration date of 12-13-12. This product is being recalled out of an abundance of caution following a single random finished package test conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Price Chopper Supermarkets Recalls Central Market Classic Cinnamon Coffee Cake purchased at Mountain Road Store in Worcester, MA. This is because they were incorrectly labelled as Pumpkin Coffee Cakes and therefore did not list tree nuts as an ingredient.

New York Firm recalls Ready-to-eat beef and cheese pie products produced without the benefit of onspection. There are no labels or marks of inspection on the bags or cartons.

Capital City Fruit, Inc. of Norwalk, Iowa is voluntarily recalling cherry tomatoes shipped by Rio Queen Citrus Inc. on November 10, 2012.
